What happens if your take the Doha Metro to a destination and arrive only to find out that you don’t have your travel card on you? You look everywhere for it and soon realize that the you’ve lost your Doha Metro card. If your rechargeable card did not have any balance, you don’t have to worry about it and you should get yourself a new card. What if your card had 50 QAR on it as well?
Before you start worrying, you should know that the balance is retrievable.
Qatar Rail encourages registering your physical card to your account. You can do this by creating an account online through the Qatar Rail mobile app or on their website https://www.qr.com.qa/home . If you’ve completed this step, you can travel with ease. Registering yourself will enable you to top-up the card using the app or website as well.
You have to visit any of the Doha Metro stations with an office and then get your new card with your balance on it by paying a replacement fee for a new card which is 10 QAR only.
If you don’t have the card registered under your name online, and you lose the Doha metro card, you’d end up losing the entire balance.
