Majestic sunset views in Doha

Where are the best places to view sunsets in Qatar? Well this was a harder task than we

thought, because it’s near impossible to narrow it down.

In fact, it’s not an understatement to say that there’s scarcely a bad view in the house when

it comes to watching sunsets in Doha.

We have however forced ourselves to pick five of our favourite spots to enjoy the setting

sun over life in Qatar. Some you’ll be very familiar with, and others may surprise you.

Katara

The cultural hub of Qatar is Katara Cultural Village. The host location for many traditional

events such as the Dhow Boat Festival and the S’hail International Falcon Exhibition. Katara

is evolving into the perennial go to spot for beach goers in Qatar (season permitting of

course), makes for a wonderful cultural experience. However, even on the quite days,

Katara offers up some of the most picturesque sunset spots around. Whether you choose to

enjoy it from the grassy hills of Katara’s walking paths, or the steps of the impressive

Amphitheatre, and even just an old-fashioned sunset over the ocean from the beach view.

Katara is accessible directly via the Doha Metro both the Al Qassar Station and Katara

Station on the Red Line.

Sealine

During camping season, Sealine is the go-to place for many weekend warriors. There’s a

reason for it too, because it’s the type of place to spend an entire day at. From dune bashing

and fishing during the day, to BBQ and socializing with friends and family at night. Perfectly

wedged between those two is a sunset over the dunes that is very definition of life in the

desert. If you have not experienced this, you have not truly lived your best life in Qatar.

Not accessible via Doha Metro.

JW Marriott Marquis Doha Helipad

If you’re looking for something completely different, this is it. If you’re lucky enough to

score an invite to the helipad it’s an experience you won’t soon forget. Though usually

reserved for special events, such as Ramadan or Qatar National Day, it’s worth enquiring for

availability if you want to experience a once off type of sunset. Just be mindful of windy

days!

The JW Doha is accessible via the Doha Metro’s Red Line by exiting via the DECC Metro

Station and short walk across the road.

Aspire Park

Picture it – a sprinkling water fall over a wooden bridge. Families on pedal boats. Ducks, (yes

ducks) and of course the iconic Aspire tower about to light up in all its glory. It’s a sight that

will take your breath away every single time. If the weather is good, why not grab a picnic

basket and make the most of this daily occurrence.

Aspire Park is accessible via the Doha Metro’s Gold Line by exiting either the Al Aziziyah

Station or Sport City Station and an estimated 10min walk.

MIA Park

Perhaps the most well-known of all the sunset views in Doha, and it’s a reputation that’s

well deserved. The skyline view from MIA Park never fails. With the sun setting behind the

uniquely Qatari structure of the Museum of Islamic Art, alongside the splitting rays against

the renowned Richard Serra ‘7’ sculpture, you have a 360-degree view of the Corniche that

will leave a tear in your eye.

MIA Park can best be accessed via the Doha Metro by exiting the Gold Line at the Souq

Waqif Station and enjoying a 15min walk.

Of course, this topic will always be open to debate and we understand that a beautiful sunset is a

very serious conversation. How else would we get those golden hour photos just perfect? Why not leave your suggestions where we should head for our next sunset.
